Useful information about our courses on wine & food in Lucca

We conduct our courses on cheese, olive oil and wine in Lucca, one of the most beautiful towns in Tuscany.  Here you can enjoy not only art and history, but also attend numerous musical events, showcasing the music of Giacomo Puccini, Alfredo Catalani and Luigi Boccherini, (all of them born in Lucca) and the famous Lucca Summer Festival. Lucca is close to the art centers of Pisa and Florence and offers a typical Tuscan atmosphere. Our largely traffic free town will satisfy your curiosity in the field of gastronomy and wine.

Here you will find some information that should make your journey to our wine seminars and food courses easier. The location of our seminars in Tuscany is Lucca. Regardless of whether you take your trip to Tuscany by train, car or plane, Lucca is easily accessible in any case.

Arriving by train: A train line connects Lucca with Pisa and Florence, the two most important train stations in Tuscany. All train connections to and from Lucca can be found on the Trenitalia website. The train station is right outside the walls of the city, so you can easily and quickly reach the center on foot or by taxi (taxi stand in front of the main exit of the train station).

Arriving by plane: The two international airports in Tuscany, Galileo Galilei in Pisa and Amerigo Vespucci in Florence, are served by well-known airlines and inexpensive low-cost airlines.

Arriving by car: Lucca has excellent transport connections thanks to its location on the A11. Very few hotels in Lucca have their own car park. However, the city offers plenty of public and private parking spaces.

Hotel in Lucca: Lucca offers a wide range of accomodation from inexpensive hotels and bed and breakfasts to luxury hotels. You can book this with the internet provider Booking.com with a best price guarantee.

The history of San Luca Palace

San Luca Palace Hotel
San Luca Palace Hotel

The building, which dates back to 1540, is located on the site where, according to archaeological research, the palace of the margrave once stood when Lucca was the capital of the marquis of Tuscany.

In later times the San Luca Hospital, which had been founded in 1262, was located here. At that time there were 11 of these so-called hospitals in the city, where merchants and travelers were accommodated. In the immediate vicinity of the accommodation there were workshops of craftsmen such as barbers, blacksmiths, bakers and tailors. A church was also attached to the building; it was demolished at the beginning of the 20th century.
Thanks to careful restoration and the establishment of the San Luca Palace, the palace is now back to its original purpose, the reception of guests.
